Haggai

Encouragement and Promise of the Temple's Glory

2
Chapter 2
1 In the seventh month, on the twenty-first day of the month, the word of the LORD came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying: 2 Say, please, to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak the great priest and to the remnant of the people, saying: 3 Who among you remains who saw this house in its former glory? And what are you seeing it as now? Is it not like nothing in your eyes? 4 And now strengthen Zerubbabel, says the LORD, and strengthen Joshua son of Jehozadak the great priest, and strengthen all the people of the land, says the LORD, and do, for I am with you, says the LORD of hosts. 5 "the covenant which I made with you when you came out from Egypt, and my Spirit stands in your midst. Do not fear." 6 For thus says the LORD of hosts: "Yet one little while, and I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land." 7 I will shake all the nations, and the desire of all the nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts. 8 The silver is mine and the gold is mine, says the LORD of Hosts. 9 "Great will be the glory of this latter house more than the first," says the LORD of hosts, "and in this place I will give peace," declares the LORD of hosts.
